Magnitude 5.1 quake shakes Fukushima

TOKYO. KAZINFORM - An earthquake with an estimated magnitude of 5.1 jolted Fukushima Prefecture and other areas in northeastern Japan early Friday afternoon, the Japan Meteorological Agency said. No tsunami warning was issued.

The quake occurred around 12:30 p.m. off the coast of Fukushima at a depth of about 50 kilometers. It registered 4 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale of 7 in coastal areas facing the Pacific. Tokyo Electric Power Co. said its Fukushima Daiichi and Fukushima Daini nuclear power plants were unaffected by the quake. Source: Kyodo
