Magnitude 4 earthquake hits Issyk-Kul

A magnitude-4 earthquake was recorded in Kyrgyzstan on the border with China on November 4 at 05:31 am local time, Kazinform News Agency reports.

According to the Institute of seismology of the National Academy of the Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, the quake was centered in China’s territory, specifically on the Kokshaal-Too ridge, approximately 20 km to the south-east of Bedel village, 70 km to the south-east of Kumtor mine, and 125 km to the south-east of Karakol city.

The earthquake in Bedel village was recorded at a magnitude of 2.5.

In October, a 4.6-earthquake occurred in Kyrgyzstan. The quake was recorded at 11:44 pm local time. Additionally, an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.6 was recorded near Tashkent.

It was earlier reported that buildings’ durability in Almaty had been tested with an artificial earthquake.
