M3.1 earthquake hits Caspian Sea

A 3.1 magnitude earthquake struck the Caspian Sea on Wednesday, according to the Republican Seismic Survey Center of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, AzerTAC reports.
The quake occurred at a depth of 45 km and was recorded at 23:57 local time.
Earlier, Kazinform reported that two tornadoes touched down near D Island in the Kazakh sector of the Caspian Sea. Tornadoes have not been previously registered in the Caspian Sea, bordered by five countries - Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Russia and Iran. Therefore, this may be the first tornado in the Caspian Sea.
