Lebanese journalists will visit celebrations to mark 15th anniversary of Astana
ASTANA. June 24. KAZINFORM - Kazakh Ambassador to Jordan Bulat Sarsenbayev on June 19-23 made a working visit to the Republic of Lebanon, where he is a part-time ambassador. This has been reported in the press release of the Kazakh Embassy in Jordan.
During his stay in Beirut Kazakh diplomat held a series of bilateral meetings with officials and media representatives in the country.
During the meeting with the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Uafik Rhein debated issues of further development of bilateral cooperation in political, trade and economic, as well as investment areas.
Ambassador Sarsenbayev informed that the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan decided to provide financial assistance in the amount of U.S. $ 200,000 through the Organization of Islamic Cooperation for the needs of Syrian refugees forced to leave their home because of the fighting and being in the territory of Lebanon.
The Secretary-General Uafik Rhein expressed his sincere gratitude to the President and people of Kazakhstan for the assistance, which indicates a strong friendship and mutual understanding between Kazakhstan and Lebanon.
In this regard, it should be noted that the Government of Lebanon is experiencing various difficulties accomodating Syrian refugees on its territory, it is considerable pressure on the socio-economic situation of the country. Currently, the number of Syrian refugees has reached 550 thousand. Meanwhile, the number of the Lebanese population is 3.5 million people.
In addition, Bulat Sarsenbayev met with journalists of Lebanese satellite channel called «LBC» and national news agency «NNA», who are planning 4-7 July 2013 to visit Astana, during their press tour organized by the Embassy of Kazakhstan. During their stay Lebanese journalists will take part in the festivities on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of Astana and will prepare special reports.
