Laura Robson loses to Yulia Putintseva in Dubai Duty Free
DUBAI. February 19. KAZINFORM Laura Robson has been knocked out of the Dubai Duty Free Championships in three sets by Kazakhstan's Yulia Putintseva.
The British world number 43 lost the first set to the 18-year-old before taking the match to a third set.
Robson, 19, then fought back from 2-5 down to take the contest into a deciding tiebreak.
But Putintseva held her serve on her third match point to win 6-4 2-6 7-6 (8-6) and send Robson out.
Unforced errors caused Robson problems throughout the match, making 49 in total.
Britain's number two took a 2-0 lead in the first set, but after breaking back Putintseva took the lead in the match.
Robson appeared to have found something approaching her best form in the second set.
But despite her battling display in the decider she made her second early exit from a tournament within a week having lost to Daniela Hantuchova in Qatar, Kazinform has learnt from BBC News.
