KZT 4.7 bln allocated for presidential elections - CEC Chairman
ASTANA. February 21. KAZINFORM /Askar Bimendin/ The Kazakh Government allocated KZT 4.7 bln for the upcoming presidential elections. This is KZT 1 bln 697 mln more compared to the sum allocated for the 2005 elections.
Chairman of the Central Electoral Commission Kuandyk Turganov has made it public at the session on organization and holding of the presidential elections today.
"The funds requirements increased by KZT 1 bln 697 mln compared to 2005. It was conditioned by the inflation processes and increase of expenditures for the electoral commissions activity provision," he added.
According to K.Turgankulov, the increase in expenditures was conditioned by the amendments introduced to the Law "On elections in Kazakhstan" in 2009. The amendments provide salaries of not less than three minimum wages to members - non-civil servants of the territorial and precinct election commissions. Besides, overtime compensations and payments for work on holidays and weekends will be provided for members of the electoral commissions.
