Kyrgyzstan receives grant of EUR 3 mln from EU for digitalization

On 8 January 2024, the European Union transferred to the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic EUR 3 million (KGS 295 million) as the budget support in the field of digital transformation, Kabar reports.

The grant funds were allocated to promote the work of the Innovation Center of Digital Competencies under the High Technology Park, to promote the “Sanarip Aimak”/”Digital Aimak” system in all regions of the country to provide electronic services to the population, to enhance cyber security of the country, to ensure personal data protection by the specially created State Agency for Personal Data Protection under the Cabinet of Ministers.

The budget support in this area will be directed to software development and database maintenance in line ministries and to the promotion of the digital economy throughout the country.

In addition, the budget support is accompanied by training programs for public authorities with the assistance of European Union member states to promote e-governance, transparency and accountability.
