Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan debated ways out of the near-border conflict

BISHKEK. KAZINFORM Representatives of border authorities of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan met to find out the ways to solve the near-border conflict occurred on May 7-8, the Kyrgyz State Frontier Service said.

The Isfara-Vorukh road is open again; all the check-points at the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border were back to normal mode of operation. The same time, the Batken(Kyrgyzstan) - Isfara (Tajikistan) highway is still blocked by the locals of the Kyzyl Bel village of Kyrgyzstan. As earlier reported, above 600 people of the near-border villages of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan clashed throwing stones at each other. A Kyrgyz fuel station, two Kamaz trucks and a shop were burnt in mass unrest. About 30 Kyrgyz nationals were injured in this conflict, our correspondent reports.
