Kuala Lumpur to host a business forum on strengthening Kazakh-Malaysian economic relations

ALMATY. December 17. KAZINFORM - Tomorrow, December 18, Kuala Lumpur will host the Kazakh-Malaysian business forum. Business representatives and government officials will be discussing the possibility of cooperation in the mining sector, engineering, agriculture, energy and medicine, and will present investment opportunities in their countries.

The speakers are to be Deputy Chairman of the Investment Committee of the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of Kazakhstan Ruslan Tasbergenov, vice president of the Chamber of Commerce of Kazakhstan Ayan Erenov and representatives of the National Agency for Export and Investment named «KAZNEX INVEST». On the agenda are direct meetings of the representatives of Kazakhstan and Malaysian companies with specific examples, where they will take into consideration prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation.

Trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Malaysia shows steady growth. In 2011 this figure reached 97.1 million dollars, and in 2012 that was 109 million U.S. dollars.

In accordance with the Trade Agreement between our two governments on 27 May 1996 there was established a joint Kazakh-Malaysian trade and economic committee. His co-chairman of the Kazakh side is the Minister of Economic Development and Trade Bahytzhan Sagintaev, and on the Malaysian side is Minister of International Trade and Industry Datuk M.Mohamed.

Both countries are successfully cooperating within multilateral structures and are active proponents of the UN reform and the enlargement of the Security Council. Malaysia has an observer status in the CICA and supports the application of Kazakhstan to participate in the ASEAN Regional Forum on security.
