King Juan Carlos praises economic relations with Kazakhstan

ASTANA. February 16. KAZINFORM In connection with the completion of his diplomatic mission to Spain Kazakh Ambassador Yergali Bulegenov met with King of Spain Juan Carlos I on Wednesday in the King's residence in Madrid.

The Kazakh diplomat told about the political, social and economic development of Kazakhstan, main foreign policy initiatives of President Nursultan Nazarbayev. He paid special attention to the Kazakh President's annual address to the nation and the recent parliamentary elections in Kazakhstan.

He also touched upon Kazakhstan's OSCE chairmanship in 2010. In this regard, the Spanish King praised the outcome of the presidency and asked about the current Kazakhstan's chairmanship of the OIC. Bulegenov told about the priorities and program of Kazakhstan, as OIC Chair, amid the events in the Middle East and North Africa, focusing on peacekeeping and humanitarian component of our country's efforts.

Juan Carlos I praised the level of trade and economic cooperation between Spain and Kazakhstan. He pointed out the successful operation of Spanish companies Talgo, Indra and Maxam in Kazakhstan.

In addition, the sides discussed the prospects for cultural cooperation, in particular, the opening of representation of Spain's Cervantes Institute in Kazakhstan.
