KHL: Barys suffer shootout defeat

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - HC Barys Astana were edged out by HC Metallurg 2:3 in shootout series in Novokuznetsk on Wednesday, Kazinform has learnt from Vesti.kz.
Oleg Kvasha of Barys opened the score in the second minute of the match. It was his first goal for the Astana-based club. Metallurg players responded with a puck at the end of the first stanza. The second period was uneventful. It was Roman Starchenko who gave Barys 2:1 lead in the 48th minute of the match. However, Sergey Dorofeyev of Metallurg scored the equalizer. Despite leading twice in the game, Barys players lost in the shootout battle. Next time Barys will play against HC Sibir in Novosibirsk on February 13.
