Kenya fire: Nairobi pipeline blaze 'kills 100'

NAIROBI. September 12. KAZINFORM More than 100 people have died after a petrol pipeline explosion and fire in Kenya's capital Nairobi, police say.

"We estimate the number of dead at more than 100," a police spokesman Thomas Atuti was quoted as telling AFP news agency.

Local reporters told the BBC they had counted more than 100 bodies after the blaze in the city's Lunga Lunga area.

Firefighters were battling fierce flames that threatened a nearby shantytown, reports said, Kazinform reports citing BBC News.
