KCell fined for non-compliance of confidential information storage obligation – Kazakh Transport and Communication Ministry
ASTANA. April 3. KAZINFORM – The checking for compliance of consumers’ contact information storage on the side of operators providing access to the Internet service has been carried out by the Committee for Communication and Information of the Ministry of Transport and Communications and territorial departments, the press service of the ministry reports.
As a result, for violation of the Rules of operators to hold auxiliary (confidential) information about their consumers, approved by the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan № 246 of March 30, 2010, KCell JSC was administratively liable to a fine of 500 monthly calculation indices (MCI), according to part 4 Article 494 -1, Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Administrative Offences.
Also the Inspectorate for Communication and Information in the city of Almaty and Almaty region audited against "Aspan Telecom" LLP. As a result the partnership was also brought to administrative responsibility for the lack of storage system concerning subscribers in the data network.
Verification activities with respect to other operators are continuing and will be completed by the end of the third quarter of this year.
