Kazkosmos, JAXA entered into agreement on peaceful coop

BANGKOK. January 27. KAZINFORM /Sara Kabikyzy/ A delegation of Kazkosmos, National Space Agency, headed by its Chairman Talgat Mussabayev has held negotiations with a delegation of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency. The meeting took place within the 16th session of the Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum being held in Thailand at present.

The Kazakh delegation includes Vice Chairman of the Kazakh Academy of Sciences, academician Meirbek Moldabekov, President of the National Center for Space Research and Technologies JSC Zhumabek Zhantayev, President of Kazakhstan Garysh Sapary JSC Gabdullatif Murzakulov and other representatives of Kazkosmos.

The delegations focused on a wide range of issues regarding cooperation in particular the prospects of creation of 200-500 kg small satellites and 10 kg microsatellites as well as providing services on global navigation satellite systems.

Upon completion of the talks T. Mussabayev and President of JAXA Keiji Tachikawa signed an agreement between Kazkosmos National Space Agency and Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency on cooperation in peaceful development of space.

"This basic agreement will let Kazakhstan and Japan create organization-legal base for full-fledged and effective cooperation in space sphere", the parties noted.

Over the last five years Kazkosmos has already entered into framework agreements on interaction with Russia, India, Israel, France and Japan which sets the best pattern of the Kazakh Space Agency's active involvement in international cooperation.
