‘KazEOSat-2’ to be launched from the Russian launch base June 20 - Kazkosmos
ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Second Kazakh remote sensing (RS) satellite will be launched June 20, 2014 with the missile-launching device "Yasniy" from Dombarovskiy missile base in Russia.
"KazEOSat-2" (Kazakhstan Earth Observation Satellite) medium resolution Earth observation satellite system with spatial resolution of 6.5 meters, was manufactured by the British company Surrey Satellite Technology Limited (SSTL), which is part of the largest French group Airbus Defence and Space. Launching of "KazEOSat-2" will be carried out by "Dnepr" booster, designed on the basis of intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) RS-20. Another 33 small spacecraft belonging to Britain, Holland, Spain, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Japan, South Korea, USA, and Canada will be sent into orbit together with the Kazakh satellite. The supply contract on Earth observation satellite system was signed between Airbus Defence and Space - the world's leading exporter of satellite sensing and "Kazakhstan Gharysh Sapary "in 2009. Cluster launch of "Dnepr" with "Yasniy" missile-launching device with 34 satellites on board including KazEOSat-2, is scheduled for June 20.
