KAZENERGY Director General: Offshore oil reserves increased by 98 mln tons
ATYRAU. June 21. KAZINFORM - Recent estimates have shown the growth of proved recoverable reserves in the Kazakh sector of the Caspian shelf by 98 million tons, says Asset Magauov, the Director General of «KAZENERGY» Association, during Atyrau III-d International Oil and Gas Conference titled "Caspian shelf development".
"Kalamkas-sea field's recoverable reserves increased by 67 million tons and Khazar field's - by 31 million tons. With participation of "KazMunaiGas" national company exploration is being carried out on the offshore blocks of Satpayev, Makhambet, Zhambyl and Bobek. Negotiations are under way on new exploration blocks named Isatai, Abay, Jenis, Okzhetpes", added A.Magauov.
As previously reported, the oil production in Kazakhstan by 2020 will increase from current 80 to 130 million tons per year. A major part of production growth will be achieved owing to offshore oil fields.
