Kazatomprom to submit proposal on nuclear plant construction by March 2013
ASTANA. February 7. KAZINFORM The proposals on construction of an atomic power plant will be submitted for consideration of the Government in March this year, Chairman of the board of "Samruk-Kazyna" Fund Umirzak Shukeyev said at the enlarged session of the board of the fund attended by Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov.
"Kazatomprom National Company works on a draft configuration of the nuclear power plant which is planned to be submitted for consideration of the Government in March," U.Shukeyev said.
Speaking at the session focused on the results of 2012, President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev emphasized the necessity to build a nuclear power plant in the country, primeminister.kz site reported.
Earlier in October 2011, the President also expressed intention to implement a project on construction of a nuclear power plant in the country emphasizing that Kazakhstan possesses one fourth of the global uranium reserves and has great potential and necessary infrastructure.
