Kazakhstan's pockets historic short track gold at Asian Winter Games in Harbin
Kazakhstan's short track speed skating team pocketed a gold medal in the Men’s 5000m Short Track Relay at Asian Winter Games Harbin 2025 in China, Kazinform News Agency cites the Ministry of Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In a tense final, the Kazakhstani speed skaters exhibited exemplary tactics and exceptional speed, surpassing the leading competitors from South Korea, Japan, and China. Kazakhstan's victory marks a significant achievement in the annals of the Asian Games.
The Kazakhstani team consisted of Denis Nikisha, Adil Galiakhmetov, Mersaid Zhaxybayev, Aibek Nassen, Abzal Azhgaliyev, and Gleb Ivchenko.
“While Kazakhstan won only one bronze medal in short track at the last Asian Games, the national team has already won three medals, including gold in Harbin,” the Ministry of Sports and Tourism noted.
As reported earlier, Kazakhstan's women short track speed skating team grabbed a silver medal in the Women’s 3000m Short Track Relay at the Asian Winter Games Harbin 2025.
