Kazakhstan’s Putintseva advances at BNP Paribas Open in USA
Paired with Denmark's Clara Tauson, world No. 20 Yulia Putintseva of Kazakhstan played their first match in the women's doubles event at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, USA, Kazinform News Agency cites Sports.kz.
Putintseva and Tauson faced Japanese Makoto Ninomiya and Spain’s Sara Sorribes Tormo. The Kazakh-Danish duo defeated their opponents in three sets (6-0, 4-6, 10-5), advancing to the next round.
This year tournament’s money prize stands at $8,963,700. The winning duo will earn $457,150 each, and 1,000 ranking points. The defending doubles champions of the tournament are Su-Wei Hsieh and Elise Mertens. As for Yulia Putintseva, she is the second-ranked player in Kazakhstan in both singles and doubles.
It was earlier reported that Kazakhstani Timofey Skatov has stormed into the quarterfinal of the ATP Crete Challenger 1 doubles in Hersonissos, Greece.
