Kazakhstan’s largest vessel launched into Caspian Sea

To mark Defender of the Fatherland Day, Uralsk’s Zenit plant launched a new vessel in a ceremony attended by Governor of West Kazakhstan region Nariman Turegaliyev, Qazinform News Agency reports.

The regional head commended the team for the successful delivery of a critical project, executed under the president’s directive and the Ministry of Defense order.

Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev set clear tasks to strengthen the country’s defense capability. Today, thanks to the high professionalism and dedicated work of the Zenit plant’s team, we are launching the largest vessel in Kazakhstan. The ship has been named after statesman and public figure Dinmukhamed Kunaev, Nariman Turegaliyev said, while expressing his confidence that the crew will serve selflessly in strengthening the nation’s defense potential.

According to the regional governor’s press service, this is the 37th vessel built by the Zenit plant. Its displacement is 720 tons, and the cargo hold volume is 30 cubic meters.

Vitaliy Kaplunov, General Director at Uralsk Plant Zenit, the vessel can reach speeds of up to 16 knots. It is 51 meters long and 9.5 meters wide, and is capable of withstanding storms of up to force 8. All employees of the enterprise took part in the project’s implementation.

The multifunctional vessel is designed to supply ships and boats of the Naval Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan with diesel fuel, drinking water, food, and other logistical materials.

The crew consists of around 30 people, and comfortable conditions have been created for them.

It is noted that before heading out to sea, the vessel must pass under a bridge, so its mast will be installed later at the port of Aktau.
