Kazakhstan’s foreign trade hits $44.9bn
In January-April 2026, Kazakhstan’s foreign trade hit 44.9 billion US dollars, having increased by 7.9% compared to the same period in 2025, Qazinform News Agency reports.
According to the National Statistics Bureau, in the reporting period, exports totaled 24 billion US dollars, a 5% increase against the same period in 2025. Imports, by contrast, rose by 11.3% reaching 20.9 billion US dollars. Thus, a positive trade balance is maintained, although the pace of imports is accelerating.
Meanwhile, the country observes 13% growth in trade with the EAEU member states, which reached 9.9 billion US dollars. Exports to the EAEU countries fell by 7.9%, while imports from them surged by 24.1%. Russia remains the main partner of Kazakhstan within the EAEU, accounting for 87.6% of total mutual trade.
The structure of foreign trade remains resource-based. Almost half of exports – or 44% - consist of crude oil.
Then come refined copper, copper ores and concentrates, ferroalloys, and wheat.
Key imports include automobiles, hydrocarbon gases, pharmaceuticals, telephone sets, and energy equipment
Key export destinations are China, Italy, and Russia. The majority of goods are imported from Russia and China, which account for 60% of all supplies, followed by Germany, U.S., South Korea and Turkiye.
Earlier, it was reported that Kazakhstan's economic growth hit 3.7% in five months of 2026.
