Kazakhstanis consume mostly domestic agricultural produce - Agriculture Ministry
ASTANA . December 19. KAZINFORM - About 60 percent of agricultural produce consumed by Kazakhsstanis is domestic, as announced by a deputy agriculture minster Muslim Umiryaev at today's meeting of the Government. The remaining 40 percent, he added, is imported.
According to the above ministry, only 5 percent of agricultural produce is processed in the republic, which is done by over 1 000 companies, 60 of which are large.
"The main share in the structure of food production accounts for cereal-processing industry (19 percent), milk production (16 percent), bread and bakery (15 percent), meat processing (14 percent), fruits and vegetables growing (9 percent), oil and fat (9 percent) and other industries (17 percent), "- said the deputy minister.
