Kazakhstani soldiers-liberators were commemorated in Poland (PHOTO)

ASTANA-WARSAW. KAZINFORM - A ceremony marking the 70th anniversary of the Victory was held on May 7, 2015 at the military memorial cemetery in Warsaw where rest 22 thousand Soviet soldiers who were killed during the liberation of the city in January 1945. The wreath-laying ceremony was attended by heads of diplomatic missions of Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Uzbekistan, and also representatives of the local administration, veterans' organizations and townspeople.

The Command of the military garrison of Warsaw sent an honor guard at the memorial and a military band, Kazinform refers to the Kazakh MFA's press service. Memorial cemetery mausoleum situated on Zhvirki Wigury Street of Warsaw was opened in 1950. 22 thousand Soviet soldiers who died during the liberation of Warsaw, some of whom are Kazakhs, are buried on the area of 19.2 hectares. In the center of the cemetery was built obelisk with 38 meters in height and at the foot of which people bring flowers. On the plaque the inscription in Polish and Russian says: "Eternal glory to the Soviet Army soldiers who died for the liberation of Poland from the Nazi invaders from 1944 to 1945". On both sides of the obelisk sculptures of the Red Army soldiers named "Heroism" of E.Yarnushkevich and "Dedication" of S.Lisovsky are installed. A day earlier in another Polish city of Czestochowa the memory of Kazakh soldiers killed in fierce battles for the liberation of Poland from the Nazis was honored by head of diplomatic mission Y.Utembayev and President of Czestochowo city K. Matyjaszczyk. The Chenstohovo municipality and the Kazakh Embassy in Poland provided a comprehensive assistance to Kazakhstani citizen Mukhtar Kabdulgazin to organize his trip to Poland to find the grave of his father Kabdulgazy Sadykov. During the Great Patriotic War more than 600 thousand Soviet soldiers were killed on the territory of Poland.
