Kazakhstani schoolers pocket 77 gold medals at international competitions in 2024
Kazakhstani schoolers won a total of 563 medals, including 77 gold, 201 silver and 285 bronze ones, in 2024, Kazinform News Agency cites the press service of the country’s Enlightenment Ministry.
According to the ministry, 26 Kazakhstan schoolers, who took prize-winning places in the top-7 prestigious international Olympiads, were given cash awards, including KZT5.5mln for gold, KZT3.6mln for silver and KZT1.8mln for bronze.
In 2024, Kazakhstani schoolers received a total of over 77.5 million tenge in cash awards.
To note, last year 23 schoolers and 20 teachers were provided with one-time cash awards amounting to KZT65.6mln and KZT71.4mln, respectively. Of total 1,218 Kazakhstani schoolers competed at 12 major international competitions, 603 bagged medals, that is, every second participant representing Kazakhstan.
As earlier reported, Kazakhstani schoolers swept 29 medals, including two gold, 11 silver and 16 bronze ones, in the Copernicus Mathematics Olympiad in New York, US.
