Kazakhstani-Iranian relations to reach new high after Rouhani's visit - Nazarbayev

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - The decision to be adopted on Iran's nuclear program will affect the development of relations between Kazakhstan and Iran, President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev said while meeting his counterpart Iranian leader Hassan Rouhani in Astana on Tuesday.

"Kazakhstan sees the Islamic Republic of Iran as one of its important partners in the world and as a good neighbor in the Caspian region. We are confident that you will find the best solution to the Iranian nuclear program and achieve the agreement. As it will affect the development of the Iranian economy and Kazakhstani-Iranian partnership," President Nazarbayev said. The President noted with regret that sales turnover between the two nations had shown a decline over the past years. However, slight improvement was registered this year. During the meeting the sides touched upon many issues related to oil and gas industry, agricultural sector and infrastructure. Special intergovernmental committees will be formed to address the issues in detail. In conclusion, the Head of State expressed confidence that Rouhani's visit to Astana and the upcoming business forum will take cooperation between Kazakhstan and Iran to a new level.
