Kazakhstani Abiba Abuzhakynova enters top 5 of International Judo Federation ranking

Abiba Abuzhakynova of Kazakhstan dropped one spot in the latest International Judo Federation (IJF) ranking of the women’s -48kg category to land in the top 5, Kazinform News Agency reports.

With a total of 5,778 points, Abiba Abuzhakynova dropped from 4th to 5th spot since March in the updated version of the IJF ranking.

Earlier it was reported that Kazakhstani judoka Galiya Tynbayeva climbed two spots in the same ranking, making it to the top 10.

Abiba is also ranked 3rd in the Olympic ranking – Individuals -48kg category.

It bears to remind that Abiba Abuzhakynova lost her bronze medal bout at the 2024 Olympic Games in the Champ de Mars Arena. Abiba fought against Swedish judoka Tara Babulfath in women’s 48kg weight division and lost to her ahead of schedule.

In March, Kazakhstan's judoka secured a silver medal at the Tashkent Grand Slam 2024. Abuzhakynova faced Russia's Sabina Gliyazova in the final bout eventually settling for silver.

In May, Abiba Abuzhakynova won bronze at the World Judo Championships 2024 in Abu Dhabi. She was placed third in her weight category.
