Kazakhstan Wrestling Championships to kick off in Astana
Kazakhstan Greco-Roman, Freestyle and Women’s Wrestling Championships is set to take place between February 1 and 5 in Astana at the Zhaksylyk Ushkempirov Sports Complex, Kazinform News Agency reports.
The country’s strongest wrestlers but for Azamat Dauletbekov and Nursultan Turssynov, who won quotas for the Olympic Games at the 2023 World Wrestling Championships in Serbia, convened in the Kazakh capital. The event will pick up the wrestlers for the Asian Qualifier Tournament in Bishkek and the World Wrestling Championships in Istanbul.
Bishkek will host the 2024 Asian Olympic Games Qualifier on April 19-21, the 2024 World Qualification Tournament will be held in Türkiye on May 9-12.
On Day 1 of the Kazakhstan Greco-Roman, Freestyle and Women’s Wrestling Championships Greco-Roman wrestlers will compete in 55, 63, 72, 82, and 97 kg weight categories.
On Day 2 medals will be played in 60,67,77,87 and above 130 kg weight classes.
On February 3 women will vie for top honors in 50, 53, 66, 57, 59, 62, 65, 68, 72, and 76 kg.
On February 4 freestyle wrestlers will compete in 57,65,74,86 and 92 kg.
The final day will see freestyle wrestlers’ bouts in 61, 70, 79,97 and 125 kg.
