Kazakhstan with high rates of economic growth gained leading position in Central Asia – Bunmey Ibuki, Japanese Parliament Speaker

ASTANA. April 18. KAZINFORM – In the framework of the visit which has began today in Tokyo Kairat Mami, the Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan met with his counterpart Bunmey Ibuki, the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of Japan and also took part in the forum related to the International Council of friendly exchanges in Japan, the press service of the Kazakh Senate reports.

B.Ibuki noted that in the short term Kazakhstan has achieved high rates of economic development and gained leading position in the region of Central Asia. The Speaker of Japanese Parliament House of Representatives called for further expansion of bilateral cooperation and the intensification of inter-parliamentary relations.


Kairat Mami highlighted the importance of parliamentarians’ collaboration both in terms of sharing experience and in terms of strengthening the legal framework of the agreements reached at different levels.


The parties also exchanged views on the development of international inter-religious dialogue and on other relevant topics.

On the same day K.Mami addressed the Kazakh-Japanese forum organized by the International Council of friendly exchanges in Japan and Kazakhstan Embassy in Tokyo. The Speaker of the Senate talked about the new opportunities opening in Kazakhstan within the National Development Strategy 2050 launched by the President Nursultan Nazarbayev.

"I am sure that the Kazakh-Japanese cooperation has great possibilities in future. New long-term projects planned to be realized in Kazakhstan would definitely interest business and social circles of Japan", said Mami when opening the meeting.

He outlined the measures being taken by the Government for the improvement of the population living standards, diversification and increasing the investment attractiveness of the economy, infrastructure development, introduction of "green economy" and the preparation for the Expo 2017. The speaker also gave an overview of the international initiatives of Astana.

Senate Speaker noted that Kazakhstan appreciates all possible assistance to Japan in overcoming the environmental and social consequences of nuclear tests in the Semipalatinsk region as well as rehabilitation of the Aral Sea. Mami also emphasized the strong support provided by Japanese Government in construction and modernization of major infrastructural projects on the territory of Kazakhstan.

Separately K.Mami focused on the activities of the Congress of World and Traditional Religions Leaders. It is commonly known that Japanese representatives of the Association of Shinto shrines attend the Astana interfaith forum on a regular basis.

Guests of the forum were shown a photo exhibition dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Congress of World and Traditional Religions Leaders.
