Kazakhstan will strengthen co-operation with the Council of Europe in criminal justice
ASTANA. October 30. KAZINFORM - In Strasbourg the delegation of the Republic of Kazakhstan headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Alexei Volkov held talks with the head of the Directorate General for External Relations of the Council of Europe Zoltan Taubner, informs the press service of the Foreign Ministry.
The delegation also included representatives of the Kazakh Supreme Court and the Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan.
During the event there were held substantive discussions and exchange of views on strengthening cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Council of Europe in the field of criminal justice. The negotiations resulted in an agreement to launch a joint project in the form of step by step plan of action for the good-neighborly cooperation priorities for 2014-2015, aimed at accelerating the accession of Kazakhstan to the relevant European conventions .
During the visit of the Kazakhstan delegation in Strasbourg, Deputy Minister Alexander Volkov also met with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjorn Jagland and the Executive Secretary of the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) Wolfgang Rau in order to discuss burning issues and prospects for further development of bilateral cooperation.
