Kazakhstan unveils priorities for CIS Chairmanship in 2015
MINSK. KAZINFORM "One of the priorities of Kazakhstan's CIS chairmanship in 2015 will be the strengthening of trust and understanding in the CIS, promoting the initiatives to support stability and security in the CIS," Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev said when speaking at the session of the CIS Council of Heads of State in Minsk.
"It is important to strengthen the role of the CIS in solving the pressing issues of cooperation between our countries in a multilateral framework," said the Kazakh Leader, BelTA reports.
Secondly, the priority will be given to the strengthening of trade and economic cooperation, including building the capacity of the free trade zone treaty. "Measures will be taken to enhance cooperation in industry, energy, transport, agriculture and other sectors of the economy," said Nursultan Nazarbayev.
Priorities will be given to the strengthening of cultural and humanitarian ties, including cooperation in the fields of science, education, sports, tourism and youth policy.
According to the President of Kazakhstan, a very important decision was to declare 2015 the Year of Veterans of the Great Patriotic War. Another key issue will be the joint celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945. "This event is our shared history," said Nursultan Nazarbayev.
