Kazakhstan TV Corporation launches blood donation campaign
ASTANA. KAZINFORM - The Republican TV and Radio Corporation Kazakhstan in conjunction with the Republican Scientific and Production Center of Transfusion of the Ministry of Healthcare of Kazakhstan has launched Give hope for life campaign, Kazinform has learned from the corporation's press service.
"On September 9, every employee of the corporation has a unique opportunity to join the ranks of blood donors on a voluntary basis. 200,000 liters of concentrated blood, 80,000 liters of plasma, and 60,000 liters of erythrocytes are stored in Kazakhstan annually. But, obviously, this is not enough to ensure the growing demand for blood," the press release says. Currently, there are only 18 donors per 1000 patients in Kazakhstan, compared to 40-60 donors per 1000 patients in western countries. Over the past 20 years, the number of donors in Kazakhstan almost halved. During the campaign everyone will be able to donate blood and make their contribution to Kazakhstan's donor movement.
