The ratification of the Montreal Convention will provide an opportunity to Kazakhstan passengers using the services of foreign carriers to protect their interests in their place of residence - for example, in the case of cancellation, change, delay of flight, loss or damage of baggage.

"First of all it is necessary to create conditions for passengers to get quality services, and, as far as possible, to make them independent of the risks associated with the activities of the air carrier. In case of any problem, passengers should be able to defend their rights," Chairman of the Committee of Civil Aviation Beken Seidakhmetov says.

According to him, the adoption of the Convention will help strengthen the responsibility of foreign air carriers and harmonize Kazakh legislation with the legislation in other countries.

The Montreal Convention has been ratified by 97 countries, including the United States, Saudi Arabia, EU countries, etc.
