Kazakhstan to perform ever-first lung transplantation

ALMATY. KAZINFORM "The surgeons of the Syzganov National Research Centre of Surgery of Almaty will perform the ever-first lung transplantation until the end of the year," its director general Zhetkergen Arzykulov said a press conference.

The surgeons completed training at the Groningen Clinic, the Netherlands, to perform one of the most complicated transplant surgeries. There are 170 Kazakhstanis who need lung transplants. The lung transplant may be recommended for people who have serious lung dysfunction that cannot be improved with maximal medical therapy.
