Kazakhstan to launch five more high-speed trains in 2014

ASTANA. October 17. KAZINFORM In 2014, Kazakhstan plans to launch five new high-speed trains, according to the press service of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, Kazinform refers to primeminister.kz.

High-speed rail routes Astana-Kyzylorda, Almaty-Aktobe, Almaty-Zashchita, Astana-Zashchita and Almaty-Tashkent will be launched in 2014. These routes will meet the increased demand for passenger transport in the above mentioned regions, and the travel time on each route will be reduced on average 1.5 - 2 times.

High-speed trains Almaty-Atyrau, Astana-Atyrau and Atyrau-Semey have already been launched this year. Travel time on these routes was reduced almost by half. All trains are formed of 27 "Talgo" cars.

According to the Transport and Communications Ministry, for the first 9 months of 2013 the number of passengers was 19.9 million passengers having increased by 9.3% as compared to the same period last year. 174 passenger cars, including 125 Tulpar - Talgo cars were purchased this year. Until the end of the year it is planned to buy 51 more cars.
