Kazakhstan to launch 6.9 mln square meters of housing in 2014 – Zhamishev

ASTANA. January 14. KAZINFORM - It is planned to put into operation 6.9 million square meters of housing in Kazakhstan this year, Regional Development Minister Bolat Zhamishev stated at a meeting of the Government, the web-site of the Prime Minister informs.

According to him, of 206.2 billion tenge provided under the program "Affordable Housing 2020" the Republican Budget Commission supported the allocation of 129.9 billion tenge by JSC "Kazakhstan Mortgage Company" for the construction of rental housing, engineering and communications infrastructure.

The program "Affordable Housing 2020" envisages annual increase in construction up to 10 million square meters by 2020. The Minister also added that 402 thousand square meters of rental housing was put into operation in Kazakhstan in 2013. "The annual housing commissioning plan was fulfilled by almost all akimats. 402.6 thousand square meters of rental housing, or 140 percent of the plan, was put into operation," the minister noted.

According to Zhamishev, 27.5 billion tenge was allocated for the construction of rental housing in 2013, of which 27.3 billion tenge was utilized.

29.4 billion tenge in loans was allocated for the construction of housing through the system of housing savings. As a result, 320 thousand square meters of housing was built using these funds.

"In total, according to preliminary data of the Statistics Agency, 6.8 million square meters of housing space was put into service in 2013, while the plan was 6.6 million square meters," the minister added.
