Kazakhstan to intensify efforts to fully implement recommendations of member states of UN Council for Human Rights – K. Umarov

ASTANA. October 1. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ Kazakhstan will continue to implement all the recommendations of the member states of the UN and Non-Governmental Organizations as well as the special procedures of the UN Human Rights Council. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Kairat Umarov said at the 'roundtable' on 'Implementing the recommendations of UN Special Rapporteur on the issue of torture following his mission to Kazakhstan on May 5-13, 2009 and the recommendations of the UN Committee against tortures' in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

'Kazakhstan has made several steps in the sphere of combating tortures and other forms of severe punishment since gaining independence. The National Action Plan for human rights for 2009-2012 and the Concept of Legal Policy of Kazakhstan till 2020 are the programs documents that are aimed at combating tortures, abuse and cruel treatment', K. Umarov said.

K. Umarov also emphasized that Kazakhstan would intensify the efforts to fully implement the recommendations of the member states of the UN, Non-Governmental Organization and special procedures of the UN Council for Human Rights.
