Kazakhstan to hold early presidential election - Nazarbayev

ASTANA. January 314. KAZINFORM The referendum on prolongation of the President's powers will not be held. Instead of this early presidential election will be held, Head of State Nursultan Nazarbayev has said it in his address to the people of Kazakhstan in Akorda today.
"As the President, elected in a democratic way and being guided by the highest interests of our country, I have decided not to hold the referendum. Instead of this I suggest launching early presidential election, though such a decision reduces my term for two years. In accordance with the legislation, I will submit this proposition to the Parliament's consideration", the President said.
