Kazakhstan to harvest record-high crops of sugar beets
Kazakhstan harvested 3.8 million tons of vegetable crops with a yield of 309 centners per hectare, Kazakh Agriculture Minister Aidarbek Saparov told the Government meeting in Astana, Kazinform News Agency reports.
Oil-bearing crops were gathered from 1.9 million hectares or 66% of harvesting areas against the planned 2.9 million hectares. The gross yield of oilseeds is predicted to reach 2.1 million tons with an average yield of 10.7 centners per hectare.
Potato bulk yield made 2.8 million tons with an average yield of 236 centners per hectare. 3.8 million tons of vegetable crops were harvested with an average yield of 309 centners per hectare.
This year Kazakhstan is projected to collect the record high yield of sugar beets. 549,000 tons were gathered so far against 317,300 tons cropped last year. This year sugar beets' average yield soared to 540 centners per hectare. As of today 432,000, tons of sugar beets were sent to the sugar mills.
He also stressed Kazakhstan completed rice harvesting with 57.5 centners per hectare.
As of now, 185,000 tons of cotton were gathered from 74,000 hectares or 69% of the harvested area with an average yield of 25 centners per hectare.
As reported before, Kazakhstan plans to build a sugar factory with the capacity to process 1 million tons of cane a year in Zhambyl region. K-Agro Holding and Baiterek Holding are expected to develop the project.
