Kazakhstan to export 10 thousand tons of beef this year
ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Until the end of this year Kazakh farmers can export about 10 tons of high-quality beef, Minister of Agriculture Assylzhan Mamytbekov told a briefing after a meeting of the Government, which discussed the implementation of the project on the development of export potential of cattle meat, primeminister.kz says.
"Last year, Kazakh agricultural producers exported more than 1,346 tons of beef. In 2014 it is planned to export about 10 thousand tons of high-quality beef," Mamytbekov said.
As he said, export-oriented feedlots holding 97.5 thousand head of cattle have been constructed since the beginning of the project at the expense of JSC "NMH "KazAgro" and private funds of entrepreneurs.
The program of concessional lending called "Sybaga" has been developed for the development of cattle meat production. Since the inception of the project farmers purchased more than 174 thousand head of breeding of cattle. Over the past three years the proportion of cattle in farms increased from 12 to 22%.
