Kazakhstan to develop metallurgic cluster

ASTANA. KAZINFORM "The Kyzylorda region will launch a metallurgic cluster for it is abundant with vanadium, copper and rare-earth metals," its Governor Krymbek Kusherbayev announced today in Astana.

"The corresponding program was approved at the ore mining and smelting council under the President of Kazakhstan. The Government also approved its roadmap," he added. "It is planned to build a USD 253 mln ferroalloy plant next spring in the region. It will produce low-aluminum ferrosilicon that is widely used as the high-end additive in the mining industry. It could be supplied to the countries ranging from China to Europe," the governor said. To this end 130 graduates of the region were sent to study at the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys, the Saint Petersburg State Technologic University, and the Satpayev National Technical University.
