Kazakhstan to develop five tourism clusters
ASTANA. KAZINFORM "Five tourism clusters have been defined in the framework of the concept of Kazakhstan tourism development until 2020," Chairman of the Tourism Industry Committee of the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies Marat Igaliyev said Friday at a meeting dedicated to the Tourism Day.
"The concept was developed with the participation of international consulting companies. In general, we have defined five clusters: Astana, Almaty, East Kazakhstan, South and West Kazakhstan," Igaliyev stated.
As he said, East Kazakhstan is considered as the center of the development of ecotourism, Almaty - mountaineering. Astana and Almaty are the points of development of business tourism. Southern Kazakhstan is defined as the center of cultural tourism, western Kazakhstan - as a place of cultural and "beach" holidays.
The head of the Committee noted that within these clusters it was planned to implement national projects.
In addition, he stressed that the creation of a resort zone involves three elements of capital costs: external backbone infrastructure, internal engineering and tourism infrastructure, commercial facilities. It is assumed that the development of external infrastructure will be provided entirely by the state as in other countries.
"The return on investment in the economy will be achieved through the creation of new jobs," he added.
