Kazakhstan to completely modernize public administration system, says Tokayev

During a meeting with the chairmen of the Supreme Courts of the member states of the Organization of Turkic States, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev spoke about the ongoing large-scale reforms in the country in recent years, Qazinform News Agency reports, citing Akorda.

The Kazakhstani leader told the participants that the new Basic Law will take effect on July 1. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said the Constitution serves as the foundation of statehood, firmly guaranteeing the nation's sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity. It further underscores the state's dedication to the rule of law, civil liberties, and peaceful relations with all nations, he added.

The president stressed that the updated Constitution prioritizes human capital and digital advancement.

In the new Constitution, the development of human capital, education, science, and innovation is recognized as a strategic direction of the state's activity. Our Basic Law introduces, for the first time, a provision on the protection of citizens' personal data, including their private information in the digital space. Furthermore, a separate article on the advocacy was added, said Tokayev.

President Tokayev also focused on the steps taken to implement the constitutional changes.

In order to implement the provisions of the Constitution, five constitutional laws have recently been signed. Furthermore, amendments have been introduced to more than 70 codes and laws. The elections to the Qurultay will be held in August. The composition of the Kazakhstan Khalyk Kenesi (People's Council of Kazakhstan) will be formed. Overall, the public administration system will be fully modernized, concluded the president.

Earlier, Qazinform reported President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev had held a meeting with chairmen of the Supreme Courts of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) member states.
