Kazakhstan to commission spacecraft assembly and test complex by 2016
ASTANA. KAZINFORM "A spacecraft assembly and test complex is planned to be commissioned in Kazakhstan in late 2015 - early 2016," Chairman of the National Space Agency of Kazakhstan Talgat Mussabayev said at a briefing in the Central Communications Service.
This project is implemented by Kazcosmos together with its strategic partner, French company "Airbus Defence and Space".
According to the head of Kazcosmos, this will be a high-tech enterprise for designing, manufacturing and testing of spacecraft components, primeminister.kz informs.
"This spacecraft assembly and test complex will be one of the largest facilities of Kazakhstan's space infrastructure," he stressed.
"In the future, this enterprise will focus on execution of orders on domestic spacecraft for various purposes, as well as international orders, such as remote sensing satellites, communications satellites. At the beginning satellites will be made with French partners. It is expected that over time Kazakhstan will begin independent production," Mussabayev said.
