Kazakhstan to buy about 1.5 bln kWh of energy in Kyrgyzstan

ASTANA. October 1. KAZINFORM /Damir Baimanov/ Kazakhstan will purchase about 1.5 bln kWh of energy in Kyrgyzstan by the end of the year. Deputy Minister of Industry and New Technologies of Kazakhstan Duisenbai Turganov made it public at a briefing on Friday.
According to the Deputy Minister, to date the energy import makes 1 bln 800 mln kWh. About 1 bln 250 mln kWh out of it are imported from Kyrgyzstan.
"The increase of the energy import from Kyrgyzstan is due to the necessity of purchasing the energy from Kyrgyzstan for irrigation of cotton in south regions of Kazakhstan. Besides, we increased the energy import from Kyrgyzstan within the assistance program to this country", the Deputy Minister said.
