Kazakhstan to build over 350 schools within Comfortable School national project
First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Roman Sklyar, reported on the progress in implementation of the Comfortable School national project at the Government’s meeting, Kazinform News Agency reports.
In line with the instruction of the Head of State, the national project encompasses the construction of 369 new-format educational facilities, with the capacity to accommodate 740,000 students, by the year 2026. Currently, active construction of 217 of these schools is underway.
The functionality and safety of the educational environment is given special attention in the project implementation. There are separate sections for elementary and high school students. The requirements include the enhancement of safety measures through the incorporation of contemporary technical resources, the establishment of an accessible environment for children with special educational needs, and the provision of modern subject classrooms for educational institutions.
In the construction of schools, domestic commodity producers are given priority. On average, 70% of the materials used in the national project are locally made, with this figure rising to 90% for construction materials. All furniture products used in the project are produced domestically.
According to Samruk Kazyna Construction CEO Maulen Aimanbetov, the commissioning of the first facilities is scheduled to be completed before the deadline. Consequently, 21 new schools will be operational by August ahead of the start of the academic year. Furthermore, the projected timeline indicates that 18 additional schools will be inaugurated in September, 58 - in October, and 112 - by the end of the year.
Furthermore, 85 educational facilities are currently under construction in various locations across the country. Of these, 8 have already been completed and 30 more are scheduled for construction before the start of the new academic year.
The meeting also addressed organizational issues pertaining to the implementation of the second stage of the National Project. In particular, it was recommended that tenders be promptly issued with the objective of identifying contractors for the construction of 152 schools that will be completed by the end of 2025.
Following the meeting, Roman Sklyar gave a number of instructions to the governmental agencies and organizations to guarantee the maximum involvement of domestic manufacturers, maintain rigorous quality control over construction, and ensure compliance with the established commissioning plans.
