Kazakhstan to brace for snowstorms and heavy precipitations

Mets issued a weather warning for 14 regions of Kazakhstan as well as the cities of Astana, Almaty and Shymkent on January 8, Kazinform News Agency reports.

Heavy snow, snowstorms and ground blizzard are expected to batter Astana at night with high wind gusting 15-20 m/s in the morning and nighttime.

Heavy snow, fog and ice-slick are in store for Almaty and Almaty region.

Abai, Akmola, Aktobe, East Kazakhstan, Zhetysu, West Kazakhstan, Kostanay, North Kazakhstan regions are forecast to brace for heavy snowfall, fog and wild wind of 15-20, 23 m/s.

High wind is set to roll through Atyrau region.

Fog is reported to blanket Zhambyl region with ice-slick ands high wind gusting up to 25m/s expected in the morning and at night.

Ice-slick, ground blizzard and fog are forecast to grip Kyzylorda region.

Air temperature is set to drop in Turkistan to -6-8 degrees Celsius at night.

Earlier Kazhydromet, the national weather service of Kazakhstan, has issued a three-day weather report for January 7-9.
