Kazakhstan to adopt new Afghanistan assistance program - Vice Minister of Defense

ANA. June 25. KAZINFORM. /Aigul Tulekbayeva/ This year Kazakhstan plans to adopt a new Afghanistan assistance program for 2009-2011. Kazakh Vice Minister of Defense Bolat Sembinov has made it pubic at the III EAPC Security Forum today.

According to him, the program will include the projects in the sphere of development of infrastructure, energy, education, specialist training.

He noted that within the Government's program on assistance to Afghanistan for 2007-2008 USD 3 million was allocated for the grain supply as well as the construction of a highway, a school and a hospital.

He also informed that the Ministry started the domestic procedures connected with the recruitment of Kazakhstani officers to the headquarters of the International Security Assistance Force in Kabul.
