Kazakhstan tightens security at transport facilities
ASTANA. January 26. KAZINFORM Kazakhstan's Ministry of Transport and Communications tightened security at transport facilities in connection with the terrorist attack at Moscow's Domodedovo airport, and in the runup to the 7th winter Asian Games the country will host from January 30 to February 6; Kazinform refers to Itar-Tass.
The decision was made at the conference with representatives of the National Security Committee, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports and the Emergency Situations Ministry, the Ministry's press service said.
Minister of Transport and Communications Abelgazy Kusainov said the necessary security measures had been taken at the key transportation hubs of the country - "at the airports and the railway stations of Astana and Almaty."
Kazakhstan also tightened control over the arrivals areas, by installing more CCTV cameras and equipment to check luggage, according to the minister; Kazinform cites Itar-Tass.
