Kazakhstan targets grain exports of 12 million tons this season

ASTANA. August 16. KAZINFORM Kazakhstan, the biggest wheat producer in Central Asia, will export about 12 million metric tons of grain in the 2012-2013 marketing year, according to the Agriculture Ministry.

"About 12 million tons -- this is our export potential for this marketing year," Yevgeny Aman, the Agriculture Ministry's executive secretary, said today during an online conference from the capital, Astana.

Kazakhstan may harvest approximately 13 million tons of grain this season, he said.

Kazakhstan harvested a record 26.9 million tons of grain last year, according to government data. The country has about 9 million tons from this crop left, Aman said today, Kazinform has learnt from Bloomberg.
