Kazakhstan, Sweden set up bilateral commission for trade-economic and investment cooperation

Minister of Industry and Construction Yerssaiyn Nagaspayev has held a meeting with State Secretary to the Swedish Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Diana Jance, who arrived in Kazakhstan to participate in the Astana Mining & Metallurgy, Qazinform News Agency reports.

As part of the meeting, the Kazakh Ministry of Industry and Construction and the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Sweden signed a memorandum of mutual understanding to establish the first Kazakh-Swedish Bilateral Commission for Trade-Economic and Investment Cooperation.

The document aims at strengthening interaction between government agencies, business communities, financial and research institutions of the two countries.

"For Kazakhstan, Sweden is one of the most promising partners in the industrial and technological sectors. We already have successful examples of cooperation, and it is important to transform this positive momentum into a broader, systemic, and project-oriented agenda. We are ready to support Swedish companies interested in expanding their presence in our country," said Yerssaiyn Nagaspayev.

For her part, Diana Janse, noted the strong interest of Swedish businesses in the Kazakhstani market, driven by the country's favorable investment climate. The dialogue will continue at a meeting of the Kazakh-Swedish Bilateral Commission on Trade, Economic, and Investment Cooperation.

Earlier, it was reported that Kazakhstan and the Netherlands agreed on implementation of joint projects worth €160mn.
